Belle’s Musing – What’s the Deal?

By Belle Touchton
The Missionary Dog

Wait for the Lord;be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. Ps 27:14-28:1NIV

What’s the deal? Daddy finally gets here and now He and Mommy go off and leave me in Halleluiah all day by myself. They leave at 8:00 in the morning and don’t get back home again until almost midnight. What do they think I’m supposed to do all day? A girl can only sleep so long. Halleluiah isn’t all that big and they close all the windows so I can’t even see outside. They seem to think leaving the air conditioner running means they are being good parents. Don’t they realize that I want to be with them?

The worst part is how excited they are when they get home. They’ve had three good days. They love the people from Inside Out Ministries. Have they forgotten that the humans at Inside Out Ministries are my friends too? I met them before Daddy did.

As a team, the seven of them have helped 10 people to become Christians in just three days. They evangelized on Wall Street, in Central Park, in Battery Park, and in Times Square. They gave out balloon animals and bracelets to children and tracts to the adults. Children would rather see a real animal than a balloon animal any day of the week and I love parks. It’s just not fair.

Mommy says I can’t go because it would be too hard. They have to ride the subway and apparently, New York doesn’t want me on their subways. They eat in restaurants and wouldn’t have anywhere to leave me. They worshipped tonight in the Brooklyn Tabernacle and dogs are not invited. It sounds to me like someone didn’t plan very well. After all, I am a missionary dog.

Oh well, the Bible says I’m supposed to be strong, take heart, and wait on the Lord. I’ll take heart and get over my hurt feelings about being left behind. I’ll be strong. I only have stay alone for three more days. I’ll wait on the Lord but I’ll sure be glad when it’s my turn to serve Him again.
