Travel Tip: The Great Smokies
If you are planning a trip to The Great Smoky Mountains, you might consider staying in Townsend, Tennessee. They call themselves "The Peaceful Side Of the Smokies." I've recently made several trips to the Smokies and have stayed at the other major cities around the Smokies. I think Townsend is correct. They truly are "The Peaceful Side Of the Smokies." I stayed in an excellent room for $39. There were several hotel chains along with local hotels and cabins. The properties were spread out with wonderful yards. There were mile and miles of easy bike trails with tunnels that go under the busy highway. One side of the trail runs along a beautiful river. You can see the pictures in the Photo Gallery. Townsend also had several excellent restaurants. They are located on the side entrance to the park. I had never noticed it before. I plan to always stay in Townsend from now on.
