Travel Tidbit - Women

I spent the morning working on the camper. I felt powerful as I stood staring at the engine with the hood up. I actually found the hood’s latch on the first try. I checked the radiator water and had to refill it with a few ounces of water. Uncle Bobby was worrying about the oil so I tried to check it. I found something that said “oil” and removed a cap but there was no stick inside. Why do I feel like a dipstick? I called Bob.

“What you removed was the oil cap. Make sure it is back on. There will be two sticks, one for the transmission and one for the oil. Make sure you get the one for the oil,” he explained. For the life of me, I could only find one dipstick. Finally, Bob gave up in exasperation. “You only have 2 hours of driving to Boston. We’ll figure it out when I get there and then you’ll know how to do it next time.” Bob is on his way to Boston to spend 4th of July weekend with me.

I closed the hood and walked around to the side of Hapless. It was time to empty the holding tanks again. I carefully thought through the entire process. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Please God, don’t let it be messy again. Help me. For the first time, it went smoothly. I had a little trouble closing the black water tank but finally it went. I did everything in the right order and had almost no spillage. Thank You. I don’t remember praying about this before. What was I thinking?

I walked over to put up what is now Belle’s folding chair (I think I need to buy me another one) and a woman walked up. “I just thought you should hear this story. My daughter saw you working on the camper. In awe, she said, ‘Mom, there’s a woman working on her camper.’ She was so impressed. My husband is good at this stuff and does all the work. She didn’t know women could do it too and she was impressed.”

My advice to that little girl is to let her future husband stay convinced that he is the only one who is capable of doing this stuff. She should constantly remind him how smart he is.
