The Devotional Diva – Diva for Life

” The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 (KJV)

Welcome!

What a gift to serve with Pocket Full of Change Ministries and you! This is a very exciting time in life and I am thankful to God for this wondrous adventure. Although, Cheryle has put an article or two of mine on her site, I thought I’d take a moment to properly introduce myself and like Gail Golden before me, explain the title, “Devotional Diva.” So sit back, here it comes!

After Christmas of 2001, I discovered the most marvelous news. I was going to be a grandmother. This left me with a sense of mixed emotions. Don’t get me wrong, I relished the idea of having a grandchild to spoil and re-gift back to his/her parents, it just took a moment to sink in. Frankly, I was far too young to have reached this stage of life, or was I?

When my news leaked out, (just how did that happen?), my friends all rushed and wondered just what title would I carry when our treasure arrived. Would I be grandma, grandmother or granny? Well, none of those bode well with me. At last someone raced to my side with a brilliant and inspired name: Grand Diva. Sounds kind of spiritual, don’t you think?

What a stroke of genius! It was perfect and fit my ego to a tee. Thus the matter was settled, at least until Kylie was born. Funny how newborns can’t grasp the vocals it takes to pronounce “Grand Diva.” My diva dream was shattered, but only temporarily. This grand diva has learned to settle for “Nana.”

Now for the rest of the story. I believe there is a bit of diva in us all. Guys, I realize I just lost you, so think of it as the part of every man who wishes he was Clint Eastwood. I interpret this to be the part of us that desires to dress well, be involved, offer above and beyond hospitality, speak up and speak out, move mountains, build mountains, right wrongs and/or stand for something that is far beyond ourselves. Some of us just like to do it with more flare than others!

God has allowed me the opportunity to teach for Him, speak for Him and write for Him. I often do my writing in the form of devotionals. They are simply short stories from my life experiences. Those experiences teach me more about my Lord, convict my heart, encourage my soul and I get to share them with others. My heart’s desire is for people to get into God’s Word, daily and in-depth. Devotionals just give us a place to start.

Ladies, I encourage you to let loose your inner diva for the Divine! Gentlemen, lift up those biceps in praise and ask God to make your day! Live for the Lord every moment to the fullest, read His Word and apply it wholeheartedly. I leave you with my definition of DIVA: Divinely Inspired Victoriously Active!
